We here at Help Desk have obtained two new drones thanks to the Soaring with Drones grant which we have received recently. Alone with another Mavic Pro, we have received a new drone: The Mavic Air, by DJI. It is basically just a scaled down version of the Mavic Pro (which was covered previously). Unlike the Mavic Pro, the Mavic Air's rotors are unable to fold, but it does have retractable landing feet. It also comes with a cover to protect the camera and a sleek red paint job. Below you can see some pictures of the drone. The quality of the photos this drone can take are also relatively good. Some examples of this can be found below:

Here at BHS Help Desk we've been doing some more work with the DJI Mavic Pro. We took it outside recently and experimented with one of its features which tracks a moving person or object. Some footage we got is below.
Net Neutrality is being threatened once more. The FCC is pushing to pass a bill that will take away Net Neutrality in the U.S. Without Net Neutrality Internet Service Providers (ISPs) will be able to restrict your activity by putting websites behind a paywall. This means you might have to pay extra just to have access to Google, or Twitter. ISPs can also restrict your internet speed by forcing you to pay extra for "faster" (what you probably have normally) connection speeds, while intentionally slowing down connection on their "basic" packages.
There are many more reasons why taking away Net Neutrality is harmful but it really comes down to one thing: Freedom of information. As Americans we enjoy knowing or learning whatever we please without restriction by the government. By restricting our access to the internet we lose what the internet was created for in the first place, a place to share information to the public. If you want to help make a difference fill out a petition on one (or all) of these websites or use them to learn more about net neutrality. It only takes a minute to make a positive impact on something we all use. https://www.change.org/p/save-net-neutrality-netneutrality http://act.freepress.net/sign/internet_wake_up_destroy/?source=what https://www.battleforthenet.com/ This week at help desk we mostly focused on learning about drones and piloting them. We first started observing and learning about how the drones worked in the class (and messing around a bit). The drone we mainly focused on was the Mavic Pro by DJI. Here are some of the photos that were taken from the drone. |
